  • U.S. Jaycees Return The Favor Winner 2005

During my year as President, the legend of the Three Amigos was born. The legend grew and spread across the country, but particularly in Region 6, in spite of attempts by Brad Rowan #44427 in Nebraska to discredit the heroic exploits of the Three Amigos.

The Fall Region 6 Meeting was hosted by the Wisconsin Senate and was held at the amazing Don Q Inn in beautiful Dodgeville. U.S. JCI Senate President Jim Ashley #23854 attended the meeting and hosted a reception in the Roman Room. Jim was attired in a traditional Roman toga and crown of flowers. It was a very festive gathering. There was also an excellent tour of the famous House On The Rock on Saturday after the meeting.

During my year as President, the Missouri Senate worked out an agreement with the Missouri Jaycees to provide official Missouri Jaycees products with their logo on them for sale.

The Senate Christmas Party was revived and held in Columbia. Bo Rothweiler #49595 stepped up as chairman and did an outstanding job. There were 35 Senators in attendance and the event included the usual hospitality, dinner, and a surprise visit by Santa and his twisted elf who handed out gifts to all the good Senators. It was a great way to start off the holiday season.

Joe Jerkins #55431, incoming President of the Missouri Jaycees, was our special guest and spoke to us about taking on the responsibility of running the Missouri Jaycees LOTS. We agreed to do this as a Return The Favor project. Ed Hart #28991, was called upon to be the chairman and did a tremendous job.

The highlight of my year as President was my attendance at the U.S. JCI Senate Winter BOD Meeting in San Francisco, CA. From the fabulous view from the balcony of the hospitality room, to the trip on the cable cars, to Fisherman’s Wharf and Alcatraz Prison, and to the 7 course Chinese dinner, everything was wonderful.

I also had the honor to nominate our own Mary Sawyer #43930 for the office of Administrative VP of the U.S. JCI Senate. This is an honor I will always remember with fondness and pride.
