2007-2008 proved to be a historical year! We were blessed with following several years of excellence and we continued to build on that to finish the year by winning the Thomas E. Humphrey Memorial Award for the Outstanding State President. This completed the “Three Peat” as it was the third consecutive year that Missouri had taken home this award, a first in the history of the US JCI Senate. In addition to the Humphrey Award we also were named the Outstanding State Website and Boni Hart #59553 was named an Outstanding State Treasurer.

Highlights of the year found us, as a Senate, traveling to Jefferson City to once again work the Food Booth and assist the Jefferson City Jaycee’s with Return The Favor hours. This project has grown over the last few years to become our #1 fundraiser each year, and involves many man hours of support. Sports was a theme this year as participated with our Illinois Senate friends at the Missouri/Illinois Football Game in St Louis, where Mizzou prevailed by a 40-34 score. We then hosted our Senate friends from Nebraska in Columbia for the Missouri/Nebraska Football Game. The game received prime time TV coverage as it was broadcast on ESPN as the main evening game. Before a large gathering of Senators, Missouri dominated the game and won 41-6. Football continued the theme as we then gathered in Kansas City for the Border Bash with the Missouri/Kansas Football Game. Over 70 Senators attended the weekend that saw two top 4 teams battle it out for the Big 12 North Title. National US JCI Senate President Jumper Davis and First Lady Hilda was our special guest, as Missouri continued their winning ways and claimed the Big 12 North Division Title by a 36-28 score in a thrilling game. We capped off the sports theme with the annual Braggin Rights Basketball game with Illinois in St Louis in another good game but won by Illinois 59-58.

Meetings found us traveling to Springfield IL for the Fall BOD Meeting and site seeing in the “Land of Lincoln”. We had some of our members enjoy the trip to Springfield by way of the Passenger Train, for a trip through time. Fall Meeting in Columbia was next where we conducted business and shared with the Missouri Jaycees. We were represented at the Region VI Meeting in Fargo ND the same weekend of Winter Meeting, which was once again held at TanTarA Resort, where we welcomed 12 new Senators into our group. The longest trip of the year took us to Winter BOD Meeting in Daytona Beach FL, Region VI Spring Meeting was hosted by us in Branson and was an awesome weekend. We had 22 States represented with 180 Senators and Guest in attendance. We finished the year at our year end Meeting in Macon where we installed our successors.

It was an exciting year as I traveled 14,000 miles and shared many great times with my Senate family. Special Thanks go to Dennis “Kramit” Kramer #61560, Ed Hart #28991, Mary Sawyer #43930 & Earl Sawyer #28243 for their special support. Thank you for allowing me the honor of serving as your President!
